The Leader of the Council welcomed 18 new councillors elected at the beginning of the month and thanked the special guests in attendance. He drew Council’s attention to the fact that after 60 full Council meetings this was to be the Chief Executive’s last meeting. Councillor Robinson outlined Mr Graham’s many skills both within and outside of work, his aspiration to make Rushcliffe a great place to live and work, the national awards that the Council had won with Mr Graham at the helm, and the legacy that Mr Graham has left behind, particularly noting the Rushcliffe Arena. The Leader invited the Mayor to present Mr Graham with a gift on behalf of the Council.
Mr Graham thanked the Mayor for his gift and the Leader for his kind words.

It was proposed by Councillor Butler, seconded by Councillor Upton and RESOLVED that Councillor Mrs Christine Jeffreys be elected as Mayor of the Borough of Rushcliffe for the civic year 2019/20.
Councillor Mrs Jeffreys then read and signed the declaration of acceptance of office and after thanking her proposer, seconder and fellow councillors, took the Chair and was invested with the Chain of Office by the retiring Mayor.
The Mayor announced that her chosen charities this year were the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance and Headway Nottingham.
